Why I Keep Dawn Powerwash in Multiple Rooms of My House

There are plenty of things I’ll happily buy the cheaper version of. If the store brand works just as well, I’m all for saving the money.

But there are a few name-brand products I refuse to skimp on—and Dawn Powerwash is one of them.

Apparently, the rest of my family agrees.

We loved it so much that I had one problem: it was NEVER in the kitchen.

Someone would take it to clean something in the bathroom. Then it would end up in the mudroom. Or outside on the back patio.

And inevitably, when I actually needed it in the kitchen, I’d be wandering around the house trying to figure out who took the Powerwash this time.

So I came up with a solution that sounds a little excessive:

I bought more of them.

I Stopped Chasing the Same Bottle Around the House

Instead of constantly moving one bottle from room to room, I bought enough Dawn Powerwash spray bottles to keep one in the places where my family was already using it.

So now we have Powerwash in the kitchen, bathroom, mudroom and near the back patio.

Is that a ridiculous number of bottles of dish spray?

Maybe. 😂

But they’re actually being used in all of those places anyway. Now, instead of hunting for the bottle, there’s one where we need it.

And that’s exactly the kind of household problem I’m willing to throw a few extra dollars at.

The Refill Bottles Make This Work Even Better

The other reason I don’t mind having multiple bottles around the house is that I don’t have to keep buying a brand-new spray bottle every time one runs out.

Once I had enough sprayer tops for each location, I could start buying Dawn Powerwash refills and refill the bottles we already have.

Important lesson from someone who has apparently turned Dawn Powerwash into a whole-house cleaning system: make sure you have enough actual spray tops before you switch entirely to buying refills.

The refill doesn’t do you much good in the bathroom if the only sprayer is currently attached to the kitchen bottle.

Sometimes Convenience Is Worth More Than Saving Every Penny

Living Life Sorted isn’t about being the most frugal person possible.

Sometimes I’ll absolutely choose the cheaper option. Other times I’ll spend a few extra dollars because something genuinely makes everyday life easier.

For me, having multiple bottles of a product we use constantly is one of those things.

I could own one bottle and spend the next several years yelling, “WHO TOOK THE POWERWASH?”

Or I can keep one everywhere we actually use it.

I choose option two.

That’s really what Living Life Sorted is about: finding the little systems that remove unnecessary annoyances from everyday life—even when the solution seems a little ridiculous at first.

If you’re constantly feeling behind at home, my free Living Life Sorted Starter Guide has more simple routines and systems for making everyday life feel a little more manageable.
